The European Directive 28/2009 on the promotion of renewable energy sources sets as a target for our country, among other things, 20% of the total energy consumption for heating and cooling to be produced from renewable energy sources, which requires investments in technologies that utilize renewable energy sources, such as heat pumps, as well as drastically reduce the need for energy for heating and cooling, mainly by implementing passive building specifications and new technologies. Therefore, the solution of the heat pump comes imperatively to the fore, in order to exploit its significant advantages, both for the private and for the public interest.

The operation of heat pumps

A heat pump is a device, which has the ability to take advantage of the energy (heat) present in the outside air throughout the year and transfer it to a recipient of a higher temperature.
In the case of a residence, it extracts heat from the cold outside air and delivers it to the interior space of use, offering heating, or in reverse operation, it expels the heat of the residence to the outside environment offering cooling.
