Natural… gas.

The choice of natural gas, compared to other proposals and alternative fuels, stands out as an effective and advantageous solution, due to the fact that it is incomparably economical, practical and has a multitude of applications. In addition, natural gas is environmentally friendly, as during its combustion, it produces less carbon dioxide than other conventional fuels, thus contributing to the reduction of the greenhouse effect. Also, it does not contain sulfur compounds that pollute the environment and cause the phenomenon of acid rain. In fact, natural gas is a holistic solution to the problem of smog that has greatly concerned the State and the inhabitants of the basin for the last two winters, since the emissions of suspended particles and soot are zero.

Price comparison with Oil The price of natural gas in Attica is determined on a monthly basis and results from the cost of supplying natural gas from DEPA (Public Gas Company). Added to this is the provider’s distribution margin (DP) and the state’s prescribed taxes. This policy was adopted by EPA Attica in 2011 in order to decouple the price of natural gas from that of heating oil in the domestic market, in view of the increase in the taxation of the latter. In relation to oil, or any other fuel, the comparison is made knowing the market price of the fuel as well as its calorific value. Having these two quantities, we can calculate the cost of energy per unit kWh. The result is the incomparable savings offered by natural gas over heating oil.
