ICON Group supports the World Green Building Council’s Business Action Statement ahead of COP30

As an co-Founding and active member of the Sustainable Building Council Greece and the active community of World Green Building Council (WorldGBC), ICON Group proudly supports the WorldGBC’s Business Action Statement to governments ahead of COP30.

The initiative calls for clear and coordinated government action to accelerate the sustainable transition of the global building sector — one of the world’s largest sources of energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.

Buildings and construction account for 32% of global energy use and 34% of global CO₂ emissions. Yet, the sector also holds the key to transforming these challenges into opportunities for innovation, resilience, and long-term economic growth.

The Business Action Statement urges COP30 negotiators to:

  • Ensure finance flows support a new clean economy
  • Reduce reliance on fossil fuels by scaling energy efficiency and renewables
  • Strengthen resilient energy systems through improved grid infrastructure, storage, and demand-side management
  • Promote adaptation and resilience across the built environment

ICON Group stands among the global stakeholders endorsing this action, reaffirming its commitment to designing and managing sustainable, zero-emission infrastructures that contribute to a more resilient and responsible built environment.

“A resilient, zero-emissions built environment is not only the right choice for our planet, but the foundation for future innovation and sustainable economic growth.”
